SOCIAL STUDIES

The Social Studies curriculum is designed to prepare children to participate in, and meaningfully engage with, the world around them. Beginning with learning about their community, including themselves, their families, and the broader community, our youngest students will explore their roles and responsibilities in relation to the various communities they are part of and how to become responsible citizens. Moving forward, students will study geography and culture, government and citizenship, economics and the cultures and traditions of communities around the world. In doing so, your child will gain an understanding and an appreciation for the role cultural diversity plays in the exchange of ideas. We also focus on the role that individuals, business, and governments all contribute to creating a society. History will instill an understanding of time and events and the impact it has had in the creation of countries, cultures and governments.
